About The Event

May 19th  is Pentecost – Don’t forget to wear red and join us for Bible study at 8:30 and Worship at 10:00!

Pentecost is ‘Shavuot” in Hebrew, meaning “Feast of Weeks”

Pentecost is 7 full weeks and 1 day after the Feast of Firstfruits, for a total of 50 days (Pentecost in Greek means “fiftieth” day) and took place 10 days after Jesus ascended (Acts 1:3)

Pentecost was a celebration of the end of the wheat harvest (Numbers 28:26), an offering of 2 loaves of wheat bread made with leaven (Leviticus 23:16-17). Pentecost commemorated the giving of the law which Moses received from God on Mount Sinai, Jews refer to it as the “season of the giving of the law”. Now, we celebrate Pentecost as the day in with God poured out His Spirit (Acts 2:1-21)

The Holy Spirit is the giver of gifts: Diverse gifts but One Giver (1 Corinthians 12:4-6):

John 15:26: He will testify of Me (said Jesus about Spirit)and John 16:14: He will glorify Me, for He will take what is Mine and declare it to you

Our Mission is to  glorify and represent Jesus. Join with us as we discuss the Holy Spirit and Pentecost at 9:00 morning study and 10:00 Church!

Why did God choose the Feast of Pentecost as the day to pour out His Spirit?

God may be unveiling His plans for the world through the chronological order of the ancient Jewish feasts:

• Christ’s crucifixion occurred at Passover

• Christ’s resurrection occurred during the Feast of Firstfruits

• God poured out His Holy Spirit on the early Church Believers at Pentecost

• It is possible that the rapture of the Church could coincide with the Feast of Trumpets (1 Thessalonians 4:16)
